CCAHE Thanks You for Your Support
Updated On: Jul 12, 2021

We were overjoyed to see this message from the Clark College Association For Higher Education in our inbox:

Clark College's faculty union (CCAHE), wants to thank the Southwest Washington Central Labor Council (SWWCLC) and its affiliates for providing ongoing support over the past year in our efforts to successfully stave off faculty layoffs and cuts to benefits.

While Covid restrictions made it difficult to organize traditional solidarity actions, the SWWCLC and affiliates helped us to inform state legislators, local officials and the general public that our students need more, not less, support from their educators during the pandemic. This message was heard, and our faculty sustained minimal cuts.

Whether students are: pursuing trade certification in welding, automotive, diesel, or mechatronics; earning degrees in business, nursing, dental hygiene or cybersecurity; or taking prerequisites to transfer to a four-year program, Clark has provided higher education opportunities to Southwest Washington for nearly 90 years.

When we stand up for Clark education workers, we're also standing up for the students they serve including first-generation students, low-income students, students of color, returning students, veteran students, immigrant students and parenting students. Thank you SWWCLC for playing an important role in increasing standards of living for generations of Southwest Washington families.

In Solidarity,

Clark College Association for Higher Education

Thank you, CCAHE, for these kind words... and thanks to everyone who wrote letters and attended Board meetings. Never doubt that your dedication to and activism for working people in our community makes a difference!
